What accessories are available for grease guns?

What is the difference between a flexible hose and a steel extension?

A flexible grease gun hose (FS series) is a spring-braided rubber hose that bends to reach fittings behind panels, under chassis and in tight spaces. A steel extension (RS series) is a rigid metal pipe that provides direct, precise grease delivery to accessible fittings. Use flexible hoses when you cannot get a straight line to the fitting. Use steel extensions when you need a controlled, direct path. We offer both in lengths from 4" to 18".

What thread size do grease gun hoses use?

The standard thread size for grease gun hoses is 1/8" NPT (National Pipe Thread) in North America and 1/8" BSPT in the UK, Australia and Asia. M10x1 metric is used in European equipment. Our FS and RS series accessories are available in all three thread sizes. The 1/8" NPT and 1/4"-28 SAE are the two most common grease fitting threads in the US market. Always verify your grease gun's thread before ordering.

What sizes do your flexible hoses come in?

Our FS series flexible grease hoses are available in 6" (150 mm), 8" (200 mm), 10" (250 mm), 12" (300 mm), 15" (375 mm) and 18" (450 mm) lengths. All feature spring-braided rubber construction that resists kinking, cracking and high-pressure failure. Available in bulk packaging or retail blister packs for distributors.

What sizes do your steel extensions come in?

Our RS series steel extensions are available in 4", 5", 6", 8", 10", 12", 15" and 18" lengths, each in both straight (RS-S) and bent (RS-B) configurations. Straight extensions provide direct access. Bent extensions reach fittings at an angle where a straight pipe cannot. Available in bulk or retail blister packaging.

How do I know when to replace a grease gun hose?

Replace the hose if you see visible cracks, bulging, kinking that doesn't straighten out, or if grease leaks from the hose body rather than the connections. Also replace if grease flow becomes inconsistent or the hose feels stiff and brittle. A damaged hose under pressure can burst, creating a safety hazard. Spring-braided hoses (like our FS series) last significantly longer than plain rubber hoses. Store your grease gun with the hose loosely coiled to extend its life.

What is an air bleeder valve and why do I need one?

An air bleeder valve (also called an air release valve) vents trapped air from the grease gun barrel, eliminating air locks that cause the gun to stop pumping. Air locks are the number one reason grease guns fail to dispense grease, especially after loading a new cartridge. We offer two types: S-ARV/M (manual, you open a small screw to release air) and S-ARV/A (automatic, releases air continuously during operation without manual intervention).

How do I bleed air from my grease gun?

If your grease gun has an air bleeder valve, open it while pumping the lever or trigger until grease flows from the coupler. If your gun doesn't have a bleeder valve, loosen the barrel head 2 to 3 threads while the grease is under spring pressure, pump a few times to push air out, then retighten. Our S-ARV/M manual valve and S-ARV/A automatic valve can be retrofitted to most grease guns to make this process easier.

What is a grease gun holder and how do I mount it?

A grease gun holder is a wall-mounted bracket with a snap-action clamp that stores your grease gun securely when not in use. Our GGH-STD standard holder mounts to any flat surface with screws. The GGH-HD heavy duty holder has a stronger spring mechanism designed for high-vibration environments like service trucks, enclosed trailers, mobile workshops and agricultural equipment where a standard holder would shake loose during transport.

Can I connect multiple hoses together for extra reach?

Yes. Use a 1/8" NPT or BSPT coupling to join two hoses end-to-end. However, longer hose runs reduce pressure at the coupler end and increase the chance of air locks. For reaches beyond 18", consider using a grease bucket pump with a 2.2 metre hose instead of extending a grease gun hose. If you must extend, use the shortest additional length possible.

Why is grease leaking from my hose connection?

Grease leaking at the hose-to-gun or hose-to-coupler connection is usually caused by a loose fitting, worn thread seal, or cross-threaded connection. First, tighten the connection with a wrench (hand-tight is not enough for high-pressure grease). If it still leaks, remove the hose, clean both threads, apply PTFE tape to the male thread and reconnect. If the threads are damaged, replace the hose. Never use a hose with a damaged thread under pressure.

Are your accessories compatible with other grease gun brands?

Yes. All our hoses, extensions, holders and valves use standard 1/8" BSPT, 1/8" NPT and M10x1 threads for universal compatibility. They work with lever action and pistol grip grease guns from STAR and any grease gun using standard 1/8" BSPT, NPT or M10x1 threading.
