Why Choose Pneumatic Grease Pumps & Air Operated Equipment?
Pneumatic (air operated) grease equipment eliminates the physical effort of manual pumping, making it essential for high-volume greasing operations where operators would otherwise experience fatigue. A 50:1 ratio pneumatic pump multiplies the air inlet pressure by 50, so standard 150 PSI shop air delivers 7,500 PSI output pressure, enough for the most demanding industrial bearings and sealed joints.
Compared to manual lever action grease guns and hand-operated bucket pumps, pneumatic systems deliver faster, more consistent grease flow with zero operator fatigue. They are the standard choice for fleet maintenance, mining equipment, construction machinery and any operation that requires greasing dozens or hundreds of fittings per day.
Why Choose STAR Pneumatic Equipment?

Complete Range of Pneumatic & Air Operated Equipment
Our pneumatic range covers every air-powered lubrication need. The pneumatic grease dispenser buckets (50:1 ratio) are available for 5, 10, 15, 25 and 50 kg pails (S-305-PN to S-350-PN). The grease dispenser assemblies include complete trolley-mounted systems for 12.5 kg pails (S-312-PN/A), 20 to 30 kg pails (S-320-PN/A), 50 to 60 kg pails (S-350-PN/A) and full 180 to 200 kg drums (S-3200-PN/A). Bare pumps are available for custom installations where you supply your own container and hose setup. The S-700-PN air operated grease gun delivers 4,800 PSI at 40:1 ratio with 400g/min output. It accepts 400g (14 oz) cartridges, bulk and suction loading with 1/8 inch BSPT, NPT and M10x1 threads. Requires only 1 CFM at 6 bar.

Frequently Asked Questions: Pneumatic Grease Pumps & Air Operated Equipment
What is a pneumatic grease pump?
A pneumatic grease pump (air operated grease pump) uses compressed air to dispense grease at high pressure without manual pumping effort. The pump multiplies the air inlet pressure by a fixed ratio (typically 50:1), so 150 PSI shop air produces 7,500 PSI grease output. This eliminates operator fatigue and delivers consistent, high-pressure grease flow for industrial applications.
What does 50:1 pressure ratio mean?
A 50:1 ratio means the pump multiplies the air inlet pressure by 50 to produce the grease output pressure. At 100 PSI air input, the pump delivers 5,000 PSI grease pressure. At maximum 150 PSI input, it delivers 7,500 PSI. This is significantly higher than manual grease guns (typically 6,000 to 12,000 PSI) and requires zero physical effort from the operator.
What air compressor do I need for a pneumatic grease pump?
STAR pneumatic grease pumps operate on 30 to 150 PSI (2 to 10 bar) air input, which is compatible with any standard workshop air compressor. The 50:1 grease pumps consume 61 GPM (230 LPM) air at maximum pressure. The S-700-PN grease gun requires only 1 CFM at 6 bar. A compressor with at least 5 CFM output at 90 PSI is sufficient for continuous operation of any model. Noise level is 81 dB. Most workshop compressors (even small portable units) can power these pumps.
What is the difference between a pneumatic grease pump and a manual bucket pump?
A pneumatic pump uses compressed air for effortless, continuous grease delivery, while a manual bucket pump requires hand or foot pumping. Pneumatic pumps are faster (2.42 lbs/min output), produce higher pressure (7,500 PSI vs 4,000 to 8,700 PSI manual) and eliminate operator fatigue. Manual pumps are simpler, cheaper and don't require an air compressor. Choose pneumatic for high-volume daily use, manual for occasional or portable applications.
What is a bare pump?
A bare pump is the pneumatic pump unit sold without a container, trolley or hose setup. It is designed for custom installations where you supply your own grease drum, mounting bracket and hose configuration. Bare pumps are popular with workshops that already have a trolley system or want to mount the pump permanently on a wall or workstation.
Can I use pneumatic equipment for oil transfer?
Yes. Our pneumatic oil pumps use a 5:1 pressure ratio and deliver up to 18 litres per minute (4.76 GPM) flow rate for oil transfer applications. These are designed for transferring motor oil, hydraulic fluid, transmission fluid and other non-corrosive liquids from drums and tanks. The 5:1 ratio provides lower pressure but higher volume compared to the 50:1 grease pumps.
What grease types work with pneumatic pumps?
STAR pneumatic grease pumps work with NLGI 0, 1 and 2 greases. NLGI 2 is the most common for general purpose lubrication. NLGI 0 and 1 are softer greases used in centralized lubrication systems and cold weather applications. Very thick NLGI 3 grease may reduce flow rate and is not recommended for pneumatic systems.
What is the S-700-PN air operated grease gun?
The S-700-PN is a portable pneumatic grease gun that uses compressed air at a 40:1 ratio to deliver 4,800 PSI (330 bar) grease pressure with 400g per minute output. It has a 500cc (500 cubic cm) barrel capacity and accepts 400g (14 oz) cartridges, bulk and suction loading. Thread options include 1/8 inch BSPT, NPT and M10x1. It comes with a 6 inch steel extension or 12 inch flexible hose. Requires 40 to 120 PSI (3 to 8 bar) air input and only 1 CFM air consumption. Ideal for factory maintenance, agricultural applications, fleet service and trucks connected to vehicle air brake compressors.
