Oil Measuring Jug & Plastic Measure Manufacturer & Exporter - Measures
We at STAR manufacture oil measuring jugs and plastic measures (also called graduated measures or fluid measuring jugs) in high-density polyethylene (HDPE) for accurate fluid measurement and transfer. Our range includes flexible spout measures in 1, 2, 3 and 5 litre capacities for oil changes and fluid top-ups, plus taper measures in 1.5 and 5 litre sizes for workshop and industrial use.
Manufactured from heavy-duty HDPE, our measures are sturdy, chemical-resistant and built for daily use in automotive workshops, garages, factories, agricultural operations and fleet maintenance facilities. The flexible spout design allows controlled, spill-free pouring into engines, transmissions and reservoirs. All measures feature clear graduated markings for precise fluid measurement.

Why Choose Quality Oil Measuring Jugs?
Pouring oil directly from a 5 litre container into an engine without measuring leads to overfilling or underfilling, both of which cause engine damage. A graduated oil measuring jug lets you pour the exact amount specified in your vehicle's manual. The flexible spout directs fluid precisely into tight engine bays and transmission fill ports without splashing or spilling onto hot engine components.
Our HDPE measures are translucent enough to see the fluid level from the outside, with bold graduated markings in litres for quick, accurate reading from a standing position. Unlike cheap plastic jugs that crack after a few uses, our heavy-duty HDPE construction withstands repeated use, temperature variations and exposure to oils, fuels, coolants and solvents without degrading or becoming brittle.
Why Choose STAR Plastic Measures?
- Flexible Spout Measures (MSR-F series): 4 sizes from 1L to 5L, heavy-duty HDPE with removable flexible spout for controlled pouring
- Taper Measures (MSR-T series): 1.5L and 5L, tapered body design for stable handling and easy stacking
- High-density polyethylene (HDPE) construction: chemical-resistant, corrosion-proof, lightweight and durable
- Clear graduated markings in litres for accurate fluid measurement
- Ideal for transferring oils into trucks, heavy vehicles, tractors, engines and transmission systems
- Resistant to oils, fuels, coolants, antifreeze, brake fluid and common workshop chemicals
- Custom OEM branding and packaging for distributors worldwide

Frequently Asked Questions: Oil Measuring Jugs
What is an oil measuring jug?
An oil measuring jug (also called a plastic measure or graduated measure) is a container with marked volume graduations used to measure and pour precise amounts of oil, coolant, transmission fluid and other automotive or industrial liquids. Our STAR measures are manufactured from heavy-duty HDPE with flexible spouts for controlled, spill-free pouring into engines, transmissions and reservoirs.
What sizes of plastic measures do you offer?
Our Flexible Spout Measures (MSR-F series) come in 4 sizes: 1 litre (MSR-F-1), 2 litre (MSR-F-2), 3 litre (MSR-F-3) and 5 litre (MSR-F-5). Our Taper Measures (MSR-T series) come in 2 sizes: 1.5 litre (MSR-T-1) and 5 litre (MSR-T-5). The 5 litre size is the most popular for automotive oil changes, as most passenger vehicles require 4 to 5 litres of engine oil.
What is the difference between flexible spout measures and taper measures?
Flexible spout measures have a removable flexible spout that bends to direct fluid into tight engine bays and hard-to-reach fill ports. They are the preferred choice for automotive workshops doing oil changes and fluid top-ups. Taper measures have a tapered body design without a spout, making them better for general workshop measurement, mixing and storage. The tapered shape allows stable handling and easy stacking when not in use.
What material are your measures made from?
Our measures are manufactured from high-density polyethylene (HDPE), which is chemical-resistant, lightweight, durable and safe for use with oils, fuels, coolants, antifreeze, brake fluid and most workshop chemicals. HDPE does not crack, warp or become brittle with repeated use. It is also resistant to UV exposure, making it suitable for outdoor use in agricultural and construction environments.
What size oil measuring jug do I need for an oil change?
Most passenger cars require 4 to 5 litres of engine oil, so a 5 litre measure (MSR-F-5 or MSR-T-5) is the most practical size for a complete oil change. For topping up between changes, a 1 or 2 litre measure is sufficient. For trucks, tractors and heavy vehicles that require 8 to 15 litres, use the 5 litre measure and refill as needed. Always check your vehicle's owner manual for the exact oil capacity.
Can I use these measures for fluids other than oil?
Yes. HDPE is compatible with a wide range of automotive and industrial fluids including engine oil, transmission fluid, coolant, antifreeze, brake fluid, power steering fluid, diesel and kerosene. Do not use for strong acids, strong oxidizers or solvents that are incompatible with HDPE (check chemical compatibility if unsure). For food-grade applications, dedicate a separate measure that has never been used for chemicals or petroleum products.
How do I read the graduated markings accurately?
Place the measure on a flat, level surface and read the fluid level at eye height. The fluid surface will form a slight curve (meniscus) where it touches the sides of the jug. Read the measurement at the bottom of the meniscus for the most accurate reading. Our measures have bold litre markings that are easy to read from a standing position, even in dimly lit workshop environments.
How do I clean an oil measuring jug?
Rinse with a degreasing solvent or kerosene, shake well, then drain and air dry. For stubborn residue, fill with warm soapy water and let it soak for 30 minutes before rinsing. HDPE does not absorb oils or odours, so a thorough rinse is usually sufficient. If switching between different fluid types (e.g. from engine oil to coolant), clean thoroughly to avoid cross-contamination.
Are these measures suitable for commercial sale of fluids?
No. Our plastic measures are designed for workshop and industrial fluid transfer, not for commercial measurement of media for sale. For trade-certified measurement, use calibrated measuring equipment that meets your country's weights and measures regulations. Our measures are intended for internal workshop use: measuring oil for engine changes, topping up fluids and transferring liquids between containers.
Do you offer OEM oil measuring jug manufacturing?
Yes. We manufacture oil measuring jugs and plastic measures in bulk for distributors and OEM partners in over 27 countries. Custom capacities, graduated markings (litres, quarts or dual-scale), colours, branding and packaging are available. Visit our OEM partnership page for details on bulk orders and export supply.
